With profuse apologies for this late posting, the ALISE Youth Services SIG calls for short papers to be presented during our conference program, “A Risky Business: Educational Entrepreneurship in Youth Services” at the annual ALISE conference (January 21-24, 2014, Philadelphia). The session will be in the form of a panel. Participants will present a “lightning talk” of six minutes accompanied by one slide. Submissions should be aligned with the 2014 conference theme, Educational Entrepreneurship, in its broadest sense, as reflected in youth services research. Please submit a 500 word abstract (no slides required at this point) by August 15, 2013 to Annette Goldsmith ([log in to unmask]), including the title of your paper, institutional affiliation, position, and contact information.

Possible topics for the panel include but are not limited to:

·         Entrepreneurial partnerships and collaborations (for example, library as incubator)

·         Transforming physical space (for example, makerspaces)

·         Taking an entrepreneurial approach to LIS teaching and learning (for example, adjunct or alternative professoriate)

·         Ventures in cultural competence (for example, storytelling projects)

·         Innovative youth-run initiatives and participatory culture (for example, fan fiction)

·         Entrepreneurial trends in children’s and young adult print and digital publishing (for example, copyright and intellectual freedom)

Submissions will be peer-reviewed and all applicants will be notified by September 15, 2013.
