The Department of Library and Information Studies at The University of
North Carolina at Greensboro is also pleased to welcome Rebecca J. Morris
who joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor on August 1, 2013.



Dr. Morris received her doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh’s
School of Information Sciences, and her dissertation examined digital
storytelling in school libraries and intermediate classrooms.  She also
earned the MLIS degree and School Library Certification from the University
of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Science in elementary and kindergarten
education from The Pennsylvania State University, Schreyer Honors College.
Her research interests include School Libraries and Educational Preparation
of School Librarians; Digital Storytelling and 21st Century Skills in K-12
schools/libraries; and Children’s and Young Adult Resources, Information
Seeking and Information Literacy.



Prior to joining UNCG, Dr. Morris was an Assistant Professor at the
Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Simmons College.  She
has professional experience in K-12 education and librarianship as an
elementary classroom teacher and middle school librarian.  She is an active
member of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), where she
is Chair-Elect of the Educators of School Librarians Section, and the Young
Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), where she is the Chair of the
Research Committee.  Dr. Morris is the blogger for School Library

In her free time she enjoys the culinary arts and fitness.
