What is Asset-Based Community-Driven Development?
“Asset-based community-driven development (ABCD), or just asset-based community development, is a bottom-up way
of working with communities that focuses on community strengths and assets. ABCD focuses on the half full glass [and] represents the notion that communities (and the people who live there) have many strengths, capacities and assets. It is the half full glass
that gives us something to work with….”

Grant funding must be used as granted!
In a precedent-setting decision, a three-judge panel in New Jersey has ruled that nonprofit groups cannot ask
for money for a specific purpose and then pull a bait-and-switch, spending it on something completely different. Federal funding agencies are similarly strict about grant awards. It can be easy to forget, whether working with public or private sponsors,
that the budget submitted with an approved funding proposal is an integral part of what was approved, and therefore must be followed exactly.
