SJSU SLIS Faculty Joins Library 2.013 Conference Presenters Group
It may be summer break, but faculty members at the nationally ranked San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science (SJSU SLIS) have been busily preparing their presentation proposals for the upcoming Library 2.013 Worldwide Virtual Conference, scheduled for October 18-19, 2013.
The open online conference features eight subject strands. Presentations by the SJSU SLIS faculty members will cover evolving roles and opportunities for information professionals, learning commons, digital services, and emerging technologies and trends. Here’s a glance at the presentation proposals submitted so far by the information school’s award-winning faculty.
· “Learning Everywhere: Transformative Power of Hyperlinked Libraries,” Presented by Dr. Michael Stephens, Assistant Professor, San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science
· “Getting a Job in Today’s Changing Economy,” presented by Jill Klees, Career Center Liaison to the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science
· “Preparing Public Librarians for Consumer Health Information Services: A Needs Assessment Study,” presented by Dr. Lili Luo, Assistant Professor, San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science; Dr. Van Ta Park, Assistant Professor, San Jose State University Department of Health Science
· “Insure Equality in Your Library or Classroom: How to Make Sure You Are Getting an ‘A’ in Diversity,” presented by Beth Wrenn-Estes, Lecturer, San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science; Dr. Kristen Rebmann, Assistant Professor, San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science; Arglenda Friday, Lecturer, San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science

· “Mobile Health Information for All by 2015,” presented by Dr. Chris Hagar, Assistant Professor, San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science
Everyone is welcomed to submit a proposal and join the global conversation about the future of libraries in the 21st century. Presentation proposals are currently being accepted and can be viewed on the conference website at library2013.com. Members of the Library 2.0 Ning network (membership is free) can also post comments about the presentations and connect with the presenters. The deadline to submit presentation proposals is September 30, 2013.
The Library 2.013 Worldwide Virtual Conference is an all-inclusive conference, connecting information professionals from all over the world. The participatory conference will be held entirely online in multiple time zones and languages beginning Friday, October 18, 2013, at 7 am Pacific Time, with the opening keynote presented by Dr. Sandra Hirsh, professor and director at the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science.
The Library 2.0 conference series is co-founded by the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science. Thanks to the support of partners and sponsors, the Library 2.013 Worldwide Virtual Conference is free to attend, and presentation recordings from the Library 2.012 and Library 2.011 conferences are freely available.
