ALISE 2014 Info Ethics SIG Call for Papers, Due July 1, 2013

The ALISE Information Ethics SIG calls for papers to be presented during the SIG’s conference program at the annual ALISE conference January 21-24 2014 in Philadelphia. Submitted papers should support the theme of the ALISE Information Ethics SIG, Innovation in Teaching Information Ethics as well as the 2014 conference theme, Educational Entrepreneurship (http://www.alise.org).

ALISE members interested in presenting during the Information Ethics SIG program should submit a 750 word abstract of their research by July 1, 2013 to Mirah Dow [log in to unmask] ).  In the subject line please indicate:  Info Ethics Paper Proposal.  The co-conveners of this SIG will review all submissions and select three to be incorporated into a proposal for the Information Ethics SIG (due July 15, 2013). All individuals who submit a proposal will be notified  of the co-conveners' decision by July 15. Final notification of acceptance of the Information Ethics SIG will be shared by September 15, 2013.

            Information ethics is a topic and/or course frequently taught in masters and doctoral level library and information science (LIS) degree programs. Information ethics has become an interdisciplinary and intercultural topic. Issues raised in information ethics affect society as well as professional ethics. A panel will share three research papers exploring how LIS educators have created opportunities for innovation in content, pedagogy, curriculum, and practice in the teaching of information ethics. Examples of possible research topics include:

· Interdisciplinary content for teaching topics in information ethics.

· Curriculum outcomes, instructional strategies, and learning activities for teaching current

topics in information ethics.

· Initiation of university and/or private enterprises for teaching topics in information ethics.
