A new special interest group has been provisionally approved by the ALISE board for those involved or interested in Student Services in LIS education.  The purpose of this new SIG is to connect those who play a role in academic advising, admissions, recruitment, programming, outreach, career development, alumni relations, and other student services in LIS education programs.

We will be meeting at the ALA Conference in Chicago tomorrow to discuss activities and initiatives for this new group.  If you are attending the conference, please join us!  This will be an informal round-table discussion, so come prepared to ask questions, share ideas, and learn how to stay connected & continue the conversations after the conference is over.  If you cannot attend in person but want to get involved, you can still show your support by contacting us (see information below).

Meeting at ALA 2013 Annual Conference:
LIS Education Student Services
1:00-2:30pm

The new SIG's first official business meeting will be held at the 2014 ALISE conference, and the SIG will sponsor a conference session related to student services as well.  Any questions or suggestions about these events, thoughts about the SIG in general, or offers to get involved are welcome!
