The School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton offers an MLIS, joint MLIS/MA (HuCo), joint MBA/MLIS (School of Business) and an interdisciplinary Ph.D program through face-to-face instruction. Most recently, the School has launched an online MLIS. The School is currently inviting applications for part-time sessional instructor appointments during the 2013-2014 academic year. The online MLIS offerings for 2013-2014 may include courses in the following areas:

  • Foundations of Library and Information Studies
  • Intellectual Freedom & Social Responsibility
  • Organization of Information
  • Reference and Information Services
  • Children’s Literature
  • Comic Books and Graphic Novels
  • Facilities Planning for Libraries and Information Centres
  • Library Services to Children and Young Adults

Interested candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) and work experience in the area of instruction. Related online teaching experience is strongly preferred. Applicants who are prepared to contribute to our MLIS program through asynchronous distance delivery education should indicate their level of experience and/or interest in developing and teaching a course online.

Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Contract Academic Staff: Teaching Agreement (CAST).
