Memorial Service for Professor and Dean Emeritus Guy Garrison, Ph.D.

 

The iSchool, College of Information Science and Technology is deeply saddened to announce that Dr. Guy Grady Garrison, Professor and Dean Emeritus, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013. Since joining the College as Professor and Dean in 1968, Dr. Garrison was an integral leader, mentor, and friend of the Drexel community. He served as Dean for a remarkable 19 years until 1987 when he became the first Alice B. Kroeger Professor, continuing in that role until his retirement in 1992. The iSchool will be hosting a memorial service to celebrate the life of Dr. Garrison:

Faculty and friends will share anecdotes and stories of Dr. Garrison at the ceremony. Others who knew him are also invited to participate by telling stories, bringing photos and other memorabilia of Dr. Garrison. Lunch will be provided after the service.

Contributions in Dr. Garrison's memory may be made to The Guy Garrison Scholarship, which is awarded to an outstanding iSchool master’s student who demonstrates academic excellence, an interest in library service, and potential for professional leadership. The scholarship is supported by funds donated by the Sigma Chapter of Beta Phi Mu in the name of Dr. Garrison.
