The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Kent State University invites you to an online open house to learn more about a special workshop for academic librarians: “Developing a Research Agenda for Academic Librarians,” designed to help new and future academic librarians develop the skills and strategies needed for creating and sustaining a research agenda. SLIS Assistant Professor Miriam Matteson, Ph.D., teaches the workshop, which runs from June 3 through 28 and is completely online (asynchronous).

The open house will allow participants to learn more about the workshop, what it covers and how to register.

Matteson teaches courses on Information Sources and Reference Services, Management of Libraries and Information Centers, and The Academic Library. Before coming to SLIS, Matteson was Reference and Instruction Librarian, University of Maryland University College; Assistant to the Director, Universidad Simon Bolivar, Caracas, Venezuela; Librarian, A.T. Kearney de Venezuela; and Sound Recordings Cataloger, Indiana University Music Library. Her recent research focuses on emotional labor in librarianship.
