Subject: PRATT SILS PROFESSORS DR.CRISTINA PATTEULLI AND DR. IRENE LOPATOVSKA
RECEIVE THE 2013 CARROLL PRESTON BARBER RESEARCH GRANT

Pratt SILS Professors Cristina Pattuelli and Irene Lopatovska have been
awarded the Carroll Preston Baber Research Grant from the American Library
Association to support their project "E-reading in the Academy:
Investigating Adoption and Use of E-books in Academic Libraries."

The project investigates the evolution of reading practices within the
context of academic libraries and consists of a series of user studies
conducted in collaboration with academic library partners, including
Columbia University Teachers College, Barnard College, and Brooklyn College
libraries. Results from the project will provide empirical evidence to the
library community which can help in making decisions to improve collection
development as well as access and overall use of e-books.
