Course Description:
Students will experience creativity, innovation, and solve real-world problems in a project-based collaborative, multidisciplinary learning environment applicable for ALL majors at all levels. This course provides
a team-based approach to Design Thinking and innovation. Through collaborative activities that emphasize creative problem solving skills the students will learn and apply various proven techniques that can be used in their future classes and careers and complete
implementable projects that explore new idea evaluation, feasibility analysis, prototyping and iterative thinking.
The course is team instructed by faculty from the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Business College and the College of Architecture and Design.
Tom Graves joined UT as a lecturer in 2007 after 33 years in various international management positions for a Fortune 500 company. He also owned several successful art and
antique businesses in the Far East. Since joining UT he has established the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the entrepreneurship collateral in the CBA, the Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community, the UT Chapter of Collegiate Entrepreneurs’
Organization and the Undergraduate Business Plan Competition. He also directs the Boyd Venture Fund competition and Vol Court.
David Matthews is the Associate Dean of Communications and Facilities for the College of Architecture and Design and the Chair of the Interior Design Program. Professor Matthews
has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and BS Interior Design degrees from Ohio University and a Master of Architecture from Miami University. He has taught at several universities; immediately before joining the College of Architecture and Design he served as the Director
of Academic Technologies for Ohio University.
