Greetings, A recent incident has encouraged me to repost a msg from January of 2012, lightly edited. Greetings all, Please be reminded that e-mail attachments are not distributed to jESSE readers, so please do not send them. I have no earthly idea what software the 2,000 readers of jESSE around the world are using, so I aim jESSE at the most common denominators of accessibility. Folks with high levels of accessibility will have no problems, those with lower levels of accessibility will appreciate them. Msgs composed just of text should be readable on any device including basic-level cell phones. That is, first, prepare your msg as text in the body of an e-mail if you want to reach the world. Second, if you want to assume that everyone in the world has access to a web client just like yours (or something like yours), send us a URL to your beautifully composed web page. Or, just include the essential particulars in your msg. URLs of course are welcome. Sending a msg via texting is a completely different subject from sending an e-mail via text. The latter is the subject here. Gosh, what a wonderful lesson for LIS students to learn regarding accessibility. Might be worth taking to heart. Segway into Universal Design? But please stop sending attachments. I will not forward them on. [Actually I no longer even get them in 2013.] <rant = off> --gw <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Gretchen Whitney, PhD, Retired School of Information Sciences University of Tennessee, Knoxville TN 37996 USA [log in to unmask] http://web.utk.edu/~gwhitney/ jESSE:http://web.utk.edu/~gwhitney/jesse.html SIGMETRICS:http://web.utk.edu/~gwhitney/sigmetrics.html <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
