The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies is pleased to welcome Maureen Henninger of the University of Technology, Sidney to our campus this week as part of the UA SLIS Research Colloquia Series on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 12 noon to 1:00 pm CST. Maureen Henninger is Senior Lecturer in the Communication Studies Group and Undergraduate Program Coordinator in Information and Media at the University of Technology, Sydney. She will giving the following public research presentation during her visit:

The Reuse of Data: Design, Visualization and New Knowledge
Maureen Henninger has had extensive academic and professional experience in the storing and retrieval of digital information and information design. Maureen consults widely in industry, government and for non-government organizations in these areas and has been invited to speak at many conferences on digital information retrieval in wide range of topics, including competitive intelligence, biomedical technology and government information. She is the coordinator of the undergraduate program in information and media and is on the education committee of the Australian Library and Information Association. Maureen’s current research activities include the working with big data, particularly social media and public sector information, data journalism and digital libraries, preservation and curation.  Her publication include books on digital information retrieval and book chapters on social media and data journalism.
