Dear Faculty and Students,

I'm pleased to share the good news that Sarah Bleakney, undergraduate major in Geography, has been selected to participate in an NSF "Research Experiences for Undergraduates" project in Costa Rica this summer!  Over 100 students from across the country applied for 7 open spots, and Sarah got the nod!  She will work with students and faculty on research in tropical meteorology and climatology, at the montane rainforest site in Costa Rica where our own Dr. Robert Washington-Allen has also carried out research and worked with undergraduate students.  The NSF REU project in which Sarah will participate is directed by Dr. Chris Houser in the Geography Department at Texas A&M University.

For more information, see the Department Blog: http://utkgeographyblog.blogspot.com/ posting.

Congratulations to Sarah!

Sincerely,

Sally Horn
