Purpose
The function of this position is to provide global insights to non-proliferation and national security-related requirements through use of geographic information systems, and related strategies, tools and analytics.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
The major focus of the position is delivering timely, accurate and precise products by integrating data from geographic information systems, remote sensing, military and other systems inputs to meet national security objectives. Creativity and insight are critical to arriving at novel solutions which meet complex mission challenges. Where gaps exist the incumbent must explore, adopt and master new functions, tools, analytic methods and systems to deliver insight. In addition to
self-identified projects, this position will hold the highest priority for contributing to projects led by others across the entire analytic team. The position requires balancing contributions on up to 15 projects at one time. Briefings and seminars to high level stakeholders, sponsors and peers is frequently required.
Qualifications Required
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills. Expert oral, written, presentation, and analytic skills. Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering, computational or information sciences, or other closely related curricula and at least 5-7 years of related experience. A Bachelor’s of Science degree and at least 8-12 years of related
experience is preferred. The candidate must have strong familiarity with (and the ability to use) current commercial or government systems, applications, techniques or methods for employing geographical information systems for mission-focused global insights. The successful candidate must be able to perform infrequent business travel. It is highly desirable that candidates have previous employment with or contract work for US agencies, the purpose of which was to
directly employ Geographic Information Systems for mission critical functions. Documented experience developing new analytic or processing methods advancing those mission functions.
This position requires that candidates have a current US Top Secret Clearance, and be able to obtain and maintain SCI access. This position requires a polygraph examination.
This position is a Workplace Substance Abuse program (WSAP) testing designed position which requires passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in which employees are subject to being randomly selected for testing. The occupant of this position will also be subject to an ongoing requirement to report to
ORNL any drug-related arrest or conviction or receipt of a positive drug test result.
