Earn 6 hours of credit while learning from distinguished British information specialists on-site in historic British libraries, archives, and museums. Faculty and students stay in King's College hall of residence, located near Waterloo Station and the South Bank of the River Thames. Situated in the very heart of London, the residence hall provides unparalleled access to the principal attractions of the metropolis such as the theatre district, Covent Garden, the Royal Festival Hall, the National Theatre, the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus. In addition to visiting historic repositories in London and Edinburgh and day trips to Stratford-upon-Avon, Greenwich, and Oxford, students will have time to explore sites of interest on their own - to see a play at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the National Theatre or the Old Vic Theatre, all within walking distance of King’s College residence hall or walk to nearby Waterloo Station, where you may catch the tube to Paddington Station, or King’s Cross Station, site of Harry Potter’s “Platform 9¾.” Mid-program, students will have five days of independent travel. Information about the British Studies Program application process is available online: http://www.usm.edu/study-abroad/application-process-2 Class size is limited so students are encouraged to apply before the deadline in mid-April.
