*British Studies 2013*

Southern Miss British Studies Program, one of the oldest and largest
study-abroad programs in the U.S., offers an LIS study-abroad course on
British Libraries and Information Centers from June 27 – July 28, 2013 in
London and Edinburgh. Earn 6 hours of credit while learning from
distinguished British information specialists on-site in historic British
libraries, archives, and museums.

Faculty and students stay in King's College hall of residence, located near
Waterloo Station and the South Bank of the River Thames. Situated in the
very heart of London, the residence hall provides unparalleled access to
the principal attractions of the metropolis such as the theatre district,
Covent Garden, the Royal Festival Hall, the National Theatre, the
National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.

In addition to visiting historic repositories in London and Edinburgh and
day trips to Stratford-upon-Avon, Greenwich, and Oxford, students will have
time to explore sites of interest on their own - to see a play at
Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the National Theatre or the Old Vic Theatre,
all within walking distance of King’s College residence hall or walk to
nearby Waterloo Station, where you may catch the tube to Paddington
Station, or King’s Cross Station, site of Harry Potter’s “Platform
9¾.” Mid-program,
students will have five days of independent travel.
