The newly formed ACRL Library and Information Science Education Interest Group will convene for the first time at ALA Midwinter on January 25, 2013 at 3:30pm at CC – TCC LL2. Approved by the ACRL Executive Committee in October, the new Interest Group will promote discussion, programming, and projects that enhance the collaboration between LIS educators and academic librarians. At the organizational meeting in January attendees will be invited to join in creating a dynamic group that will promote the effective alignment of LIS Education with the evolving needs of the academic library workforce. A roundtable discussion will not only identify the desired structure for the group but will also provide ideas about the most effective methods of achieving the Interest Group’s goals.
