Assistantships (PAships) are intended to provide research assistance
opportunities for full-time students. Standard SOIS PAships ill consist
of a 33% appointment. The PAship covers tuition and benefits, and
provides a stipend in return for approximately 13 hours of service per
week. Appointments will be
increased to 50% after the first academic year in the program. Teaching
Assistantships (TAships) are available to more senior students in the
program. Awarded PA/TAships may be for the academic year (9 months) or
the full year (12 months). PA/TAships can be renewed for four years
pending successful completion of PA/TA assignments and maintaining good
academic performance.

Description: The PhD program at SOIS is a unique research-oriented degree that provides an opportunity for students to develop, apply, and critically evaluate the relevance of theory and the effectiveness of its application to a variety of research areas. Doctoral students examine the evolving landscape of information creation, organization, storage, dissemination, and use in order to introduce new ideas for social, commercial and educational contexts.
Eligibility Criteria: Admittance into the PhD program; full time doctoral student status.
Application Procedure: All incoming students admitted to the PhD program are considered.
Stipulations: Standard residency requirement applies.
