Good News

--- Jamie Madere, a UT junior, has received a $5,000 scholarship through the National Retail Foundation's Ray M. Greenly Scholarship fund. She was one of twenty-four college students nationwide to receive the award this fall. Each student was nominated by educators at their schools based on their academic achievements and passion for retail. The scholarship will cover educational costs and a stipend to attend the federation's January convention in New York City.

--- Doug Blaze, dean of UT's College of Law, has received the 2012 Deborah Rhode Award from the American Association of Law Schools. The award honors a dean or faculty member who has dedicated significant efforts to increasing access to justice through the law school environment while inspiring similar efforts from others.

--- The Fall 2012 final exam period continues through Thursday, Dec. 13. The graduate hooding ceremony is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and the commencement ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. --- Several campus roads will be partially or completely closed starting this weekend and continuing until the start of the spring semester in January, including Circle Drive on the Hill, a section of Andy Holt Avenue between Pat Head Summitt Street and Francis Street, and a lane of Volunteer Boulevard and Cumberland Avenue in front of Aconda Court. --- The 2013 Clifton M. Jones Student Leadership Conference and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, sponsored by the UT Center for Leadership and Service, is is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in the University Center. Free to students, but space is limited to the first 500 students to register.
