Catholic University School of Library and Information Science is proud to announce that Joyce Backus, SLIS alum, will become the National Library of Medicine's Associate Director for Library Operations and a member of the Senior Executive Service. Joyce holds a Master's of Science Degree in Library Science from Catholic University of America and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and English from Duke University. Joyce has been at the NLM since 1985 when she started as an Associate in the NLM Associate Fellows Program. Since then she has served in a number of key positions and was appointed Deputy Associate Director of Library Operations in June 2011. Among her many other achievements, Joyce has been a key player in the development of MedlinePlus and led the creation and implementation of MedlinePlus Connect.
