Study Day is Wednesday, Dec. 5, and final exams begin Thursday, Dec. 6. Commencement is set for Saturday, Dec. 15, at Thompson-Boling Arena. Eighteen UT competitors and spectators attended, competing in newcomer, bronze, and silver levels of Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Samba, Swing, and Mambo. UT students placed highly in several categories. Free and open to the public. --- OUTreach, UT's LGBT & Ally Resource Center in F-103 Melrose Hall, will be open on exam days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for quiet individual and group study. There will be hot chocolate, hot tea, sodas, and snacks compliments of the Chancellor's Commission for LGBT People and the OUTreach Center. All LGBTQQIA students and allies are welcome. Questions? The Student Art in the Library contest awards a first prize of $300, a second prize of $150, and a third prize of $75. The submission deadline for the Spring 2013 contest is Feb. 10. If you create any particularly inspired works over the holiday break, keep the contest in mind. The libraries are looking for two-dimensional works to be displayed in the exhibit area in 135 Hodges Library throughout the spring semester. http://wp.lib.utk.edu/artinlibrary/ --- Looking for an internship working with sustainable development and education in a Spanish-speaking country? You can pay fees and confirm attendance at the Bursar's Office, 211 Student Services Building, or on MyUTK.utk.edu. --- Take advantage of winter break to write up your research and get published. Pursuit, the Journal of Undergraduate Research at UT, has extended its deadline to January 9. Pursuit is dedicated to publishing the work of UT undergraduates and is supported by the Office of Research and the Chancellor's Honors Program. Pursuit accepts works from all academic colleges and departments.
