The School of Information Management at Dalhousie University, Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada invites applications for two positions:

The Dalhousie School of Information Management (SIM) invites applications for a three-year term appointment at the Assistant Professor level commencing 1st July 2013.
The School offers two graduate programs and contributes to a collaboratively delivered undergraduate program. At the graduate level, SIM provides the ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Studies program and the mid-career external program Master of Information Management. At the undergraduate level, the School provides core and elective courses in the Bachelor of Management program, notably in the provision of the new Knowledge Management major. In addition, the School supports Dalhousie’s Interdisciplinary PhD program.
The School (http://www.sim.management.dal.ca) is part of the interdisciplinary Faculty of Management (http://management.dal.ca), with the Schools of Business Administration, Public Administration, Resource and Environmental Studies. The Faculty of Management has a unique commitment to values-based management with a focus on sustainability and on getting things done. We seek an additional colleague who will contribute to, and thrive in, this environment.
This position is co-funded by the School and the Bachelor of Management program (25% and 75% respectively). Given this funding imperative, the successful candidate will have:
• Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the undergraduate level are essential. Successful experience with graduate teaching, as well as with online tools and pedagogy, will be an asset
• Ability to lead a number of special projects assigned by the Bachelor of Management Program Director, e.g., serving on the Bachelor of Management Curriculum Committee, supervising sessional instructors and teaching assistants of course sections, supervising updates and modifications to course syllabi, and so forth.
• PhD and research experience in Library and Information Studies, Knowledge Management, or a related field.
As the School’s strategic goals include development of the undergraduate Knowledge Management major, the following teaching areas/courses are of special interest to the School and the principal teaching assignments for this position will be drawn from this list:

2) Assistant Professor (Tenure-track Position)

Applications are invited for a probationary tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2013. At the graduate level, SIM offers the American Library Association-accredited Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) program, and the mid-career blended learning Master of Information Management (MIM) program. The successful candidate will have a PhD at or near completion in information management or in a related discipline, with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Data management: curation, preservation, and visualization
• Information risk management
• New and emerging media
• Organizational learning, collaboration, and knowledge management
