The School of Information Studies (SIS), one of the four academic units in the Faculty of Education at McGill University, invites applications for one tenure track appointment at the rank of
Associate or Full Professor. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2013. Qualified candidates would typically be holder of a doctoral degree in information studies or a related discipline, and should have demonstrated an accomplished record of
research excellence, publication and service to institutional, scientific and professional communities.
This new position seeks to consolidate existing research in the area of Human Information Interaction (HII),
an emerging domain that seeks to systematically study how people interact with, relate to and process information, data and knowledge. The successful candidate will not only contribute to, but provide strong leadership in HII
as well as building bridges with areas such as digital content management, digital curation and preservation, and information and knowledge management.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to graduate teaching and supervision and to be successful in obtaining funding to support a productive research program. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.

The School of Information Studies, one of the oldest schools in North America, has an enrolment of more than 200 graduate students and offers an ALA-accredited MLIS program, a graduate certificate and a graduate diploma
in LIS, and a Ph.D. in Information Studies. The MLIS program includes specializations in librarianship, knowledge management, and archival studies.
