OIT's Masquerade was a Ball

We would like to thank the faculty, instructors, GTAs and staff who attended OIT Support's Faculty Meet and Greet on the 5th floor of Greve Hall. Guests toured our new office space and learned about OIT's teaching, research, and other support services, explored innovative technologies in the Mobile Learning Lounge, and chatted with faculty at the Faculty Lounge.

Here's what attendees said:

“This was AWESOME, so neat to meet everyone face to face and learn about services that aren't widely known.”

“Very informative and fun.”

“FUN! Enjoy(ed) the food and learning about all the services.”

Let's keep the conversation going. If you have ideas or need our assistance, fill out a Request for Assistance. View event photographs and prize winners on our website.

Blackboard Collaborate Survey

If you have used Blackboard Collaborate, we invite you to participate and can do so by clicking the following link: http://tiny.utk.edu/Vr9pT. The survey will run from Tuesday, November 6th through Tuesday, November 20th.

Autodesk/AutoCAD

Autodesk Education Master Suite 2013, which consists of engineering, design and modeling software developed by Autodesk, Inc., is available for free to faculty and staff at UTK and UTSI for installation on University-owned computers. The Suite 2013 includes more than two-dozen individual applications, including AutoCAD for 2D and 3D design and drafting for Windows and Mac. The OIT online Autodesk/AutoCAD installation document includes a list of all the applications. The Suite 2013 applications and the applications from the three previous versions are available from the Autodesk Subscription Center.

UT recently acquired an Autodesk Subscription contract for faculty and staff. Under the Subscription option, each AutoCAD user has immediate access to the latest software releases and incremental product enhancements as soon as they become available via download from the Autodesk Subscription Center. Before you can use the Subscription Center, you need to create an Autodesk account. To get started, download the OIT online installation document by selecting Autodesk/AutoCAD after logging in at Software Distribution.

To learn about the applications, go to the Autodesk home page.

Faculty First 2013 Call for Proposals

The Office of Information Technology, Support Organization invites applications for the Faculty First Program 2013 from individual UTK faculty members.

The Faculty First Program aims to support the UTK faculty’s effective uses of technology in teaching. This is accomplished through a partnership between a faculty member and OIT in the design and development of instructional materials to reshape an existing course or course component. You will offer the content and serve as a subject matter expert, and the OIT consultants will do the development for you, incorporating the appropriate technology into your course.

Proposals are due Thursday, January 24, 2013. Learn more about the Program and access the full Call for Proposals. Please contact Iryna Loboda with questions: 974-5735 or [log in to unmask].
