--- Students and faculty have now had a few weeks to experience and enjoy the new amenities in the renovated Humanities and Social Sciences Building. The Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center has launched an online survey to find out what the campus community thinks of the facility.

--- The Center for Leadership and Service has a new online resource for students interested in tracking their service and volunteer hours, both on and off campus. Students with 100 confirmed, logged hours prior to graduation will receive a medallion to wear at Commencement, to commemorate their selfless service to our community. --- There will be a Health Professions Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in rooms 221-226, 237 of the University Center. The following professions will be represented: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant,  occupational therapy, physical therapy, clinical laboratory science, podiatry, and more. All students welcome.

--- The UT Progressive Student Alliance is hosting prominent anti-racist writer and educator Tim Wise. He will give a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 in the UC Auditorium titled "Beyond Diversity: Challenging Racism in an Age of Backlash." Sponsored by Ready for the World and the departments of American Studies, English, Geography, Global Studies, and Sociology.

Get Involved

--- Do you have a learning disability and/or ADHD? Are you looking for a safe place to connect with others like you, receive support, and talk about your concerns? Join the UT Health Center for a counselor-led support group that mixes discussion with information on learning disabilities such as: advocacy, your rights, professional and personal development. The group is open to all UT undergraduates and graduate students every Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Counseling Center of the Student Health Center. --- Are you LGBTQ or have friends that are? Join the LGBT & Ally Resource Center for their second annual Coming Out Day Flash Mob from 12:30 p.m. to 12:40 p.m. tomorrow on the Pedestrian Walkway by Hodges Library. --- Do you want to help new students make a smooth transition to Big Orange Country by serving as a resource and role model? Apply online to be an Orientation Leader at orienation.utk.edu, then come to one of the following interest meetings: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 9 or 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 in UC room 225. Applications are due Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.

--- Early registration for Dance Marathon 2013 is now available until Nov. 1, 2012. The event is set for Feb. 22, 2013. Sign up and help raise money for the East Tennessee Children's Hospital. To register and to learn more about the event go to http://leadershipandservice.utk.edu.

--- Relay for Life of UT Knoxville is a fundraiser that goes overnight to support the American Cancer Society and will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, in Circle Park. --- Who was your favorite professor? Each year, the UT Alumni Association funds awards for excellence in the classroom. --- Interested in seeing your scholarly research published? Pursuit: The Journal of Undergraduate Research at the University of Tennessee is dedicated to publishing the scholarly work of UT undergraduates. Ready for the World Events

--- Performances and music ranging from Appalachian and Native American to Cajun and African drumming will be featured today during the Multicultural Music Celebration Day on the Pedestrian Walkway. The all-day event, which is free, is the kickoff for the National Symposium on Multicultural Music.
