Campus communicators are encouraged to refer their researchers to the
National Science Foundation "Science: Becoming the Messenger" workshop that
will be held on campus Nov. 7-8, 2012.

The first day of the workshop  (November 7) is also open to public
information officers on campus. The second day is open by invitation only to
a limited number of researchers.

TN-SCORE and the UT Office of research are cohosting the event.

Deadline nears for NSF "Becoming the Messenger" workshop

A National Science Foundation communications workshop designed to improve
the public communications skills of researchers will be held on the
University of Tennessee campus on November 7-8, 2012. The deadline for
registration is October 26, 2012.

"Science: Becoming the Messenger" is designed to help university researchers
at all experience and education levels communicate effectively with a broad
public. Workshops on November 7 will be open to principal investigators,
early-career researchers, postdocs, and graduate students from UT and other
academic institutions. Public information officers at UT and other schools
in Tennessee are also invited.

Sessions on November 8 will be limited to a small group of selected
researchers who will receive intensive communications training. There is no
registration fee, but preregistration is required. Sessions will be held in
the UT Conference Center.

TN-SCORE and the UT Office of Research are cohosting the event.
