Dear colleagues, The ALA New Members Round Table (NMRT) seeks a volunteer to serve as liaison between NMRT and the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE). Being an ALA-NMRT Liaison* *is a fantastic opportunity for a library science student or a new librarian to be more involved in the library profession. NMRT liaisons play a key role in increasing awareness of information and ideas of mutual interest to NMRT and liaison unit members with a minimal time commitment. This liaison appointment will be for a one-year term commencing immediately and concluding following the ALA Annual Conference in June 2013. *Conference attendance is not required!* Liaison responsibilities are listed below. NMRT-L and unit communication tools (ALA Connect, blogs, listservs, and wikis) as well as conference attendance are appropriate ways to carry out these responsibilities: - Join appropriate listservs, including NMRT-L. Share information about ALISE announcements, programs and other information with NMRT. - Keep ALISE informed of NMRT activities that may be of interest to ALISE members, such as the programs sponsored by the NMRT Mentoring Committee, and the Student and Student Chapter Outreach Committee. - Invite ALISE representatives to attend NMRT events at the ALA Annual Conference. - Report on ALISE policies, discussions, and actions that are relevant to NMRT. - Identify and alert NMRT of ALISE programs which NMRT may wish to co-sponsor. If you are interested in getting involved, please fill out the volunteer form: http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/rts/nmrt/popularresources/getinvolved/liaison.cfm .
