Given the changing landscape of access that readership has, it is important to consider the question 'what is the meaning of the book?,' as it cannot be forgotten that the act of reading and publishing is grounded in an object - whether, physical or digitally constructed. How, then, is digital reading - the use of the electronic reading device - understood by readers? What are readers' perceptions of these objects that facilitate the reading experience? Through qualitative examination from the perspective of readers, this presentation explores these themes and questions that researchers, libraries, and readers are faced with in this changing landscape of access to and formats of the book-as-object.
