Good afternoon everyone,

The East Tennessee Library Association happily invites you to join us for a Fall hike at Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville!  If you haven’t had a chance to check out this local jewel, our program will be a great chance to do so.  And if you’ve been before, then you know it’s always worth another visit.

Meet us at 10:00am on Saturday, October 13 at the main Visitor’s Center building for visiting and pre-hike fuel (coffee, bagels, Gatorade, granola bars).  At 10:30, an Ijams Naturalist will tell us about the history of Ijams as a resource for environmental education, natural history, habitat preservation, and recreation.  Then she will lead the group on an easy to moderate one-mile hike through the woods and along the boardwalk over the bank of the scenic Tennessee River, pointing out Fall plants and wildlife along the way.

Afterwards, you may wish to explore other parts of Ijams, including Mead’s Quarry Lake and the Ross Marble Quarry site.  If you don’t prefer to hike, then please feel free to join us for the first part of the program.

The cost is free to all participants, and ETLA members and non-members alike, as well as guests, are welcome.  If you would like to join your East Tennessee Library colleagues for a fun Fall activity, please RSVP to Matthew Jordan - [log in to unmask] -  by Wednesday, October 10.  See you there!
