LAC Group seeks a temporary Research Librarian to provide on-site research support for the Learning Resources Center (LRC) at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The LRC, which is co-located within the USAID Library, provides USAID staff with the resources needed to better perform their jobs. It offers language training resources, management materials, world fiction, documentaries and services to support travelers.
We need someone to work 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, for approximately a 4 week period. We will provide training on all of the responsibilities listed as well as provide a list of commonly used, vetted websites so the librarian can identify appropriate documents for the country briefing packages.
Responsibilities
§ Prepare detailed country briefing packages by searching databases and identifying relevant documents on the Web and downloading them.
§ Maintain LRC books, DVDs and language instruction materials by reshelving daily.
§ Prepare information packets for Library/LRC outreach events.
§ Manage Rosetta Stone Online registrations.
Qualifications
§ Master’s degree in library science or 2-3 years experience with online searching
§ Experience with online database searching, including Nexis
§ Proficiency with Web searching
§ Attention to detail
§ Ability to work independently
§ Knowledge of international development is desirable
