The USF School of Information welcomes new Assistant Professor Dr. Edd Schneider for the fall semester 2012. Dr. Schneider is a researcher, media developer, and artist with roots in both Philadelphia and upstate New York. Prior to joining USF's School of Information he was an associate professor at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where he taught media design and development for nine years in the Instructional Technology and Computer Science departments. While in Potsdam he also taught and consulted with the Digital Arts & Sciences program at Clarkson University.  Dr. Schneider received his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, with a double minor in Telecommunications and Library and Information Science. He studied Mathematics and Education as an undergraduate. Across his career he has taught web development, interactive media development, graphics production, desktop publishing, and instructional design courses. Dr. Schneider's interests and skill set in media production include motion graphics and animation, paper craft, 3-D modeling, video game development, and web design. His research focuses on design of virtual environments as well as user behavior in virtual worlds, and his most recent grant involved using art to teach Mathematics to middle school students. His conference rotation includes Game Developer's Conference, AERA, AECT, IVLA and GLS. Dr. Schneider also has a strong professional interest in international outreach and research. He spent a year teaching at London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, and has traveled repeatedly to China for corporate and academic partnerships.
