Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center is a five campus non-profit academic health organization with eight residency programs, 1,000 staff physicians, and 10,000 employees. In July 2012, an inaugural medical school class will begin as University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville in a new building located on the Greenville MemorialHospital campus. In addition to an established Library for the System, the medical school faculty and students will enjoy a Library Commons located in the new building. From an office in this new building, the Library Commons librarian will be a dynamic, proactive, and service-oriented member of the existing library staff and will support the faculty and students. The position requires strong communication and computer skills, a passion for teaching, and one year of experience post Master’s degree, preferably in a medical library. By working collaboratively with the Library Director, this staff member will have the goal of improving student information management skills by keeping faculty and students in touch with emerging technologies and electronic information tools in the field of medicine, nursing, and allied health.
