Subject: Two Library Positions Available at UCSF, California

The Library and Center for Knowledge Management at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is hiring two librarians – a Collection Development Librarian and an Education & Reference Librarian.  Brief descriptions of each position follow.

Collection Development Librarian.  We are seeking a dynamic, technologically adept, service oriented librarian for the position of Collection Development Librarian. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Scholarly Communication & Collections, the successful candidate will have a strong background in developing and managing a user-centered library collection, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and have an interest in providing reference and education services.

The incumbent manages the overall growth and development of the collection, manages the collection budget and tracks expenditures throughout the year, and works closely with staff in the Collection Management department to negotiate licenses and evaluate and analyze print and online resource usage.  S/he is also responsible for leading collection-based projects, the continuing transition to online journals, the reduction of print subscriptions, and an aggressive movement to e-book acquisitions, including a demand driven acquisitions model. The Collection Development Librarian will be involved in many areas of the Library, including providing library instruction and/or reference services and will work closely with librarians in the Education/Reference department.
