Our hostess, Heather Ebey (Alexina Proctor in SL), will take us on a virtual library tour in Inworldz. If you would like to meet Alexina and/or her colleague, Prax, for assistance ahead of time, she is available at the following times (see note below):

July 25 (Wed), 3pm-5:30pm IWT/PT
July 28 (Sat), 10am-12pm IWT/PT
Aug 3 (Fri), 8pm-9pm IWT/PT
Aug 4 (Sat), 3pm-5pm IWT/PT
Aug 5 (Sun), 4pm-5pm IWT/PT
Aug 9 (Thu), 11am-12pm IWT/PT

From Alexina:

If a person plans to be on at one of those times and need sour help, please have them IM me, Alexina Proctor, or send me [log in to unmask] . It would be best to do this a little before they actually go on so that we know to watch for them. If we know their name, we can send them a friendship request so that we are easier to contact.

As for preference settings, I expect you have a list of recommendations to try. I suggest that the person go with their viewer recommendations and then decrease it if they are experiencing a lot of lag in objects rezzing or in walking ...and find this is a problem in more than one region/sim. I have mine set at 96 to 128 meters unless I am going to do snapshots that require a greater draw distance.

If a person is crashing a lot, they should check their bandwidth setting and try it at a lower setting down to as low as 700kbps.

They should shutdown all applications that are competing for the network on their computer except the viewer if possible. One founder/programmer suggested setting the viewer bandwidth at 75% of the measured download speed measured by: http://speedtest.net/

See:

http://inworldz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=75342#p75342

However, I find that I have to run much slower depending on the time of day and whether there is anyone else in the house using the same network to access the Internet.

BTW, there is major server maintenance going on all this week and each region will be down for about an hour. They are listing the regions that will be part of server maintenance each day at:
