Date/Time: August 15, 2012 1:00 – 2:30 pm EDT

Description: The U.S. economy depends on reliable freight transportation to link businesses with suppliers and markets throughout the nation and the world. However, natural and man-made events that occur both within the U.S. and globally have the potential to impact the supply chain and overall freight movement, with repercussions on the commerce and the economy. With traffic incident management (TIM), a planned and coordinated program, incidents are detected and removed, traffic restored to capacity as safely and quickly as possible. This webinar will discuss the relationship of TIM and impact of traffic incidents to goods movement, industry perspectives, ways to engage the goods movement industry, and examples of initiatives that may help with the reducing the impact of incidents on goods movement.

Presenters:

·         Paul Jodoin, FHWA Traffic Incident Management Program

·         Vince Garcia, Wyoming DOT

·         Rod Schmalhaus, Wal-Mart
