We had some printing problems when we first implemented Win7 clients and had
to add a group policy specific to Win7 clients. I do not remember whether
the printing problems affected local printers; I think it only affected
network printers. In any case, we set under User Config - Policies -
Administrative Templates - Control Panel/Printers: Point and Print
Restrictions Disabled. Also: Computer Config - Adm templates - Printers:
Point and print restrictions Disabled. I think we had to use a Win7 client
to connect to the GP server, and also possible install the Win7 GP admin
templates on the Win 2003 server to be able to see and edit these policies.
Policy must apply to both the computer OU and the user OU if the two are in
different OU's.

Really not sure if this is the source of your problem, but thought it might
be relevant. Good luck.

Subject: [LIBNT-L] permissions issue

I am hoping someone in the collective brain can help me. I recently
installed a receipt printer on one of my circ stations (Windows 7), and gave
the user rights to manage the printer. When I ran a
windows test page, it printed with no problem. When I logged in as the
user and tried to print from the ILS, I got a message that the printer can't
be found in the list. If I'm logged in as the local or network admins, it
prints from the ILS just fine.

When I tried to give the user rights to the System32/spool folder as the
network admin, I got a series of messages telling me I don't have access.
The domain admin doesn't even show up in the list of users. As the local
admin, I couldn't add domain users. Is there something I need to do at the
server level (server 2008) to give the domain administrator access to change
the System32 folder? My experience is somewhat limited, but I have never
encountered anything like this
 before.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that
cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong
goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair. --
