The Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science is  
pleased to welcome Mónica Colón-Aguirre to the GSLIS faculty beginning  
in Fall 2012.

Colón-Aguirre is a native of Puerto Rico; she is a doctoral candidate  
from the School of Information Science, at the University of  
Tennessee, Knoxville. Her previous academic work includes a Bachelor's  
in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Río  
Piedras Campus and a Master's in Business Administration from the  
Inter American University of Puerto Rico as well as a Master's degree  
in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  
She has been recipient of the Science Link Fellowship funded by the  
Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Spectrum Doctoral  
Fellowship funded by the American Library Association. She will be  
teaching in the area of reference.
Before moving to Tennessee, she worked as an Assistant Librarian at  
the Inter American University for over three years. She has also  
worked at the Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Library and Hodges  
Library at the University of Tennessee. Her research interests  
include: knowledge management, organizational narratives in the  
academic library context, human resource management, information  
literacy and professional development in information organizations.
