Formats are not the issue. It's all about preventing little Johnny from seeing T&A on public library computers. There are legitimate research needs for video. I'd say if smut is a wide spread problem, simply REMOVE the disc players altogether, otherwise I think there is a point at which you may need to police your library and THAT is going to be expensive and time consuming the results of which will more than likely rub everyone wrong. I'd start with either disabling the device, or posting a small notice on each station asking for compliance. Haven’t ventured into AppLocker myself yet, but this might also be an option, depending on your needs. We don’t allow DVD’s to be watched on public computers currently due to patron complains regarding R movies / racy movie scenes where children could possibly view the screen but we don’t see a way to kill this off short of either 1) disabling the DVD drive 2) disabling Windows Media Player. Neither which seem like good options to us…. So what do you do? Allow the movies to be able to play and deal with the problem customers as they arise? Kill access to one or the other? Found some 3 rd party toy that disables it for you? Thanks for your input! ;) Thanks, Gretchen Garcia MCLD IT Services [log in to unmask]
