The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)'s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) seeks an advanced Library & Information Science graduate student to assist with the development of the CDRH Knowledge Hub repository. The CDRH Knowledge Hub is
a pilot research project to develop an institutional repository for Office of Surveillance and Biomarkers (OSB) internal information objects related to medical devices. OSB generates a large quantity of data, information, and knowledge, and aims to develop
a consolidated and systematic way of collecting, storing, preserving, and finding this content for future use and re-purposing.
Work Needed: Administration and mediation to prepare content for inclusion in the repository, and to facilitate later searchability, findability, and discoverability; content must be catalogued and curated according to established metadata standards and
best practices.
Qualifications: Functional competency in one or more major descriptive metadata standards; working knowledge of bibliographic utilities, digital asset management systems, and institutional repositories; strong technology skills; excellent communication
and customer service skills; knowledge of current digital preservation practices and tools, the research process and data life cycle, and trends in the organization and management of information; completion of advanced coursework in digital collections, metadata,
or curation is preferred; ability to combine excellence in information resources with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
This is a full-time position located on the FDA White Oak campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. This position is a contract fellowship through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). The fellowship
is for a one year term. Candidates will be offered a competitive salary depending on their experience and academic level.
