The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)'s Center for Devices and****

Radiological Health (CDRH) seeks an advanced Library & Information****

Science graduate student to assist with the development of the CDRH****

Knowledge Hub repository. The CDRH Knowledge Hub is a pilot research****

project to develop an institutional repository for Office of****

Surveillance and Biomarkers (OSB) internal information objects related****

to medical devices. OSB generates a large quantity of data, information,****

and knowledge, and aims to develop a consolidated and systematic way of****

collecting, storing, preserving, and finding this content for future use****

and re-purposing.****

Work Needed: Administration and mediation to prepare content for****

inclusion in the repository, and to facilitate later searchability,****

findability, and discoverability; content must be catalogued and curated****

according to established metadata standards and best practices.****

Qualifications: Functional competency in one or more major descriptive****

metadata standards; working knowledge of bibliographic utilities,****

digital asset management systems, and institutional repositories; strong****

technology skills; excellent communication and customer service skills;****

knowledge of current digital preservation practices and tools, the****

research process and data life cycle, and trends in the organization and****

management of information; completion of advanced coursework in digital****

collections, metadata, or curation is preferred; ability to combine****

excellence in information resources with strong organizational and****

interpersonal abilities. ****

This is a full-time position located on the FDA White Oak campus in****

Silver Spring, Maryland. This position is a contract fellowship through****

the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). The****

fellowship is for a one year term. Candidates will be offered a****

competitive salary depending on their experience and academic level. ****
