To view the archives or join/leave TMG list: http://listserv.utk.edu/archives/tmg.html The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society Contact: Melanie Staten 865-776-8227 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ARBORETUM SOCIETY HOLDS ANNUAL SPRING PLANT SALE APRIL 20, 21 The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society will hold their 45th annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, April 21st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UT Arboretum at 901 S.Illinois Ave. (Hwy. 62) in Oak Ridge. The “Members Only” sale will be on Friday, April 20th from 5-7 p.m. Memberships may be purchased at this time. Purchases are by cash or check only. The Society will be featuring a variety of popular landscape plants including, but not limited to, Abelia ‘Rose Creek’ and ‘Kaleidescope’; Drift Rose in pink, red, peach or white; Crape Myrtle ‘Cherry Dazzle’ and ‘Pokomoke’; Indian Hawthorn ‘Minor’; Hydrangea ‘Lime Light’ and ‘Incrediball’; Weigela ‘Wine and Roses’; Pieris ‘Prelude’; Leucothe ‘Rainbow’; and Loropetalum ‘Burgurdy’. Plant vendors offering flowering trees, shrubs, perennials and wildflowers include Beaver Creek and Riverdale Nurseries from Knoxville, Sunlight Gardens from Andersonville and East Fork Nursery from Sevierville. On Saturday, Razzelberry’s Ice Cream Lab from Oak Ridge will be on site selling bratwurst, bbq and ice cream. Retired U.T. horticulture professor Dr. Will Witte will be resuming his role as the “Answer Man.” The University of Tennessee Arboretum Society is a 47 year old, non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the objectives and programs of the University of Tennessee’s 250-acre Arboretum in Oak Ridge. Proceeds from this Sale and other fund-raising events go toward the operating expenses and endowment fund for the UT Arboretum.
