Abstract: Today’s archivists and archives programs are changing to meet the demands of new technology, heightened user demands, and new ways of communicating. On the horizon are important questions about electronic records, organizing archival collections, and educating the next generation of archivists. These and other challenges are helping to redefine the next generation of archivists and archives program. Aaron Purcell, the author of the new book Academic Archives: Managing the Next Generation of College and University Archives, Records, and Special Collections (Neal Schuman), will be speaking about these challenges and the future of the archival profession. He is currently the director of special collections at Virginia Tech and formerly university archivist at the University of Tennessee.
