OIT Faculty Survey
|
|
This week, all UTK faculty members will receive an email invitation to participate in the 2012 OIT Faculty Survey. This survey focuses on faculty
use and satisfaction of instructional technology support for teaching and learning. The online survey will take approximately 10 – 12 minutes to complete, so we hope you will take a few minutes to respond in order to help us shape the future of the services
we provide to faculty. |

Creating
Web Surveys
OIT's web survey development and data collection tool is IBM SPSS Data Collection Interviewer (formerly called mrInterview). Two training sessions are usually required when setting
up a new account, each approximately 30-45 minutes. During the first session you will receive an overview of how to build a survey. Once your first survey is built, a follow-up session is scheduled which will cover activating and deploying the survey as well
implementing optional advanced features such as routing or login security.
To request an account, please contact the OIT Helpdesk at 974-9900. If you have questions, please contact Cary Springer at

Technology
Tidbit
Many students are submitting final papers as the semester comes to an end. Blackboard's SafeAssign is a software resource designed to help students avoid plagiarism and improper
citation. The software encourages original writing and proper citation practices by cross-referencing submitted materials against other submitted papers, the Internet, and numerous published journals, newspapers, and magazine articles. The SafeAssign tool
is fully integrated into Online@UT, and does not require additional software.
If your student uploads a SafeAssignment and gets an "InstanceNotFound" error message:
A recent update to the SafeAssign software changed the way the tool works behind the scenes. Your browser must accept a third-party cookie to complete the upload. For security reasons, many users don't allow third party cookies, while the Safari browser denies
them by default. If you are using Safari, you'll need to change your settings to accept third party cookies by following these steps: Preferences > Security > Accept > Cookies > Always.
If you are using a different browser and can create exceptions for specific third-party cookies, the site you'll need to create an exception for is "safeassign.blackboard.com".
For more information on SafeAssign, visit the
OIT workshops page or contact the OIT HelpDesk at 974-9900 or
