This is the first announcement for the 8th William Rowan Hamilton Geometry
and Topology Workshop to be held a the Hamilton Mathematics Institute
(HMI), in Trinity College Dublin Ireland. The workshop will consist of a
two day mini-course August 28-29, followed by a three day lecture series
Thursday, August 30st, through Saturday, September 1th, 2012.
This year's topic for the workshop is *Measure and asymptotics in group
theory and low-dimensional geometry*.
Funding and Sponsors:
The workshop is co-sponsored by Boston College, the HMI and the
NSF. Funding is available for graduate students and junior
researchers wishing to attend the mini-course and workshop. A limited
amount of funding is also available for both junior and senior
researchers wishing to attend the workshop. If you would like to request

Minicourse:
The minicourse will run August 28-29 and consist of a two-day series of
lectures and discussions on *Probability and randomness in low-dimensional
geometry and topology* given by Danny Calegari and Juan Souto. The target
audience is graduate students and junior researchers.
Lecture Series
The lecture series will be August 28-September 1 and consist of a series of
50 minute talks by the below speakers. There will also be
scheduled discussion and problem sessions.
