Geography 494 – Monitoring the Little River

(First or second summer session or fall 2012).

Earn 1-3 credits helping Dr. Harden conduct field and lab work to monitor the quality of water in the Little River.  This research project assesses the condition of the Little River (Blount County, TN) and its tributary streams after an EPA-funded intervention.  Field work to be done includes measuring stream discharge, locating and measuring erosion pins on streambanks, assessing size of channel-bed sediment, maintaining and retrieving samples from passive samplers.  Geog 494 awards credit for participating in research.  There could  also be room in this project for a senior thesis completed by spring 2013.
