Lynsey Tucker travels to Tanzania, Africa, researching healing movement therapy. | | BSSW Students Travel and Garner Awards for Research Travel Lynsey Tucker, BSSW student, will be working for eight weeks at the St. Lucia Hospice and Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania this Summer as part of a research endeavor studying healing movement therapy as a multicultural intervention tool. Lynsey received training in healing movement therapy from Dance Exchange, a not-for-profit dance company based in Washington, DC.
While working with St. Lucia’s clients, Lynsey will be facilitating healing movement therapy sessions in an effort to promote physical and mental wellness as the clients explore space, movement, and storytelling in this stress-reducing activity that achieves an artistic work in each session. Her research project will measure client satisfaction with the intervention and any progress gained from their participation. It was another successful year for the CSW! Sungkyu and the students worked exceptionally hard.
