This position provides leadership for the process of investigating, negotiating, and licensing electronic resources in a team environment where the life cycle of electronic resources is managed. The Electronic Resources Specialist supervises one FTE staff position and reports to the Head of Electronic Resources and Serials Management. Responsibilities include investigating and comparing vendor products and offers, establishing and maintaining effective vendor relations, negotiating and documenting license terms and pricing, and collaborating in the management of the Serials Solutions electronic resources management system. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program. Professional experience with academic online resources and services. Basic understanding of publisher’s licensing and business models. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills, analytical problem solving skills, and initiative. Strong organizational skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities. Knowledge of copyright policies and intellectual property issues in academic institutions. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience of success in negotiating. Experience in licensing of electronic resources, including reviewing, negotiating, analyzing, or drafting license agreements. Experience in contract administration. Experience with vendors and content providers, including subscription agents, publishers, and library consortia. Serials and electronic resources experience in a large academic or research library. Knowledge of copyright and fair use issues raised in licensing media resources, including video, audio, and images. Experience with a business management software program, such as SAP, and database management programs, such as Microsoft Access. Supervisory experience. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries seeks a creative, service-oriented librarian to be the subject liaison to the Departments of English and Theatre. Subject liaisons at the University of Tennessee Libraries are the formal mechanism that connects the library faculty with the academic departments. The Humanities Services Librarian will serve as a partner in the teaching and research missions of the University by establishing collaborative relationships with faculty and students, building and curating collections in relevant formats, providing instruction to undergraduate and graduate students, and providing general and specialized research assistance in a variety of contexts. In addition, the Humanities Services Librarian will collaborate with special collections staff to engage in instruction in the use of special collections material, and liaise with faculty and students who might benefit from work with primary source materials in manuscript, print, image, and other forms. The librarian interacts with campus groups, providing leadership related to scholarly communication, the use of emerging technologies, assessment, and diversity. Required Qualifications: ALA accredited master’s degree. Experience or coursework in reference services and a demonstrated interest in instruction. We are seeking an organized, goal-oriented, and creative professional to process and manage the collections. This non-tenure track faculty position is in the Special Collections department, a service-oriented team that provides access to rare and unique primary materials in support of the research community. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program. Knowledge of current issues and trends in archival practices. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of archival descriptive standards such as Encoded Archival Description (EAD). Familiarity with preservation practices. Understanding of digital projects and digitization standards. Evidence of strong technical and computer skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
