LIBRARY DIRECTOR - DAVIESS COUNTY (KY) PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Board of Trustees of the <http://dcplibrary.org/> Daviess County Public
Library (headquartered in Owensboro, KY) seeks an experienced library
administrator, skilled in budgeting and financial management, with keen
listening skills and the ability to respond to staff and community needs.
The County Library is a vital part of why Owensboro was ranked the "#1 Place
in Kentucky [for Raising Your Kids]" by Business Week in 2010. This busy
Library is always "on the move," serving 96,000 people from a new 51,000 sq.
ft. facility with a staff of 44 FTES, a $3.6million budget, and strong
auxiliary support from the Friends and Library Foundation. The Library
circulates 749,000+ items annually and has 73,612 registered card holders.
Challenges for the new Director include developing a new strategic plan,
developing and working with new funding streams, and developing and
implementing new services and technologies.

<http://www.owensboro.org/> Owensboro is the fourth largest city in
Kentucky, county seat of Daviess County, and a town of festivals (the annual
Barbeque Festival being a popular one)--it is also the industrial, medical,
retail and cultural hub of western Kentucky. It is 32 miles southeast of
Evansville, IN; 109 miles southwest of Louisville, KY; and 123 miles north
of Nashville, TN. The City is strategically located on the southern banks of
the Ohio River, which provides a majestic backdrop to the ambitious Downtown
Revitalization initiative and Riverfront Master Plan. The $120 million
Downtown Plan calls for a riverfront park, downtown hotel and convention
center, a market square and an arts academy. Owensboro already offers a wide
range of recreational and cultural activities from fishing on a nearby lake
to live performances of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, one of the finest
in the state. Strong school systems and higher education institutions put
the "finishing touch" on why people want to live and work in Owensboro. For
