***University Center Spring Break Hours*** The University Center will operate on limited hours during spring break: Friday, March 16, close at 6pm Saturday-Sunday, March 17-18, closed Monday-Friday, March 19-23, close at 6pm Saturday-Sunday, March 24-25, closed ***UC Garage Demolition Begins this Weekend!!!*** The IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW is intended for those who work in or near the UC during spring break, and for students or guests who may be visiting the UC during spring break. Encourage friends and co-workers to join the listserv to receive similar messages in the future. As we begin the demolition of the UC parking garage this weekend, we wanted to take some time to make sure you have all the information needed to make Monday’s (March 19) return to work go as smoothly as possible. Please take note of the following events that will begin in and around the UC this weekend. •The Shiloh entrance to the UC (from the Back Plaza) closes permanently today by 3pm. •The garage entrance to the UC (from the parking garage) becomes inaccessible while emergency egress corridors are constructed. Once the corridors are completed, this exit remains EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY throughout Phase 1 of the construction, as does the exit from the Hermitage Room and Shiloh Room. •All pedestrian bridges to/from the Back Plaza will be removed, with the exception of the bridge nearest Staff Lot 9 that connects Haslam Business Building to the back side of the Hill. •Andy Holt Avenue between Phillip Fulmer Way and Volunteer Boulevard closes PERMANENTLY to vehicular traffic, but one sidewalk remains open to pedestrian traffic. •The north side of Staff Lot 9 (closest to the UC) closes permanently. •The only vehicular access to Staff Lot 9 will be from Peyton Manning Pass. •Phillip Fulmer Way between Cumberland Avenue and Andy Holt Avenue is completely closed to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic beginning Sunday, March 18 through Tuesday, March 20. What does this mean to you? •If you typically turn onto Phillip Fulmer Way from Cumberland Avenue to come to work, or if you typically access Lot 9 from Andy Holt Avenue, you won’t be able to take either route, so plan for a few extra minutes to get around to the entrance off Peyton Manning Pass. •When walking between Lot 9 and the UC on Monday and Tuesday, the suggested route is to use the Cumberland Avenue entrance, accessible by walking along Andy Holt Avenue, Volunteer Boulevard, and through “the pit” (the small Staff Lot 12 beside Temple Court). •The first floor entrance from Phillip Fulmer (the three glass doors beside the round UT Book Store sign) will be inaccessible March 18-20. •UC guest parking will be established in the Volunteer Hall Garage. Enter on the White Avenue side. Rates are expected to be the same as those in the UC garage. •Those needing handicapped parking are encouraged to use the Volunteer Hall garage rather than Staff Lot 9. Come down James Agee to the UC rather than 16th street to avoid possible complications with construction on the corner of Volunteer Boulevard and Cumberland Avenue.
