The workshop will be led by Dave Lockwood, UT Fruit Specialist. This is the second of our 10-part monthly workshop series starting in February and running through November. The workshop series targets commercial producers and agriculture professionals interested in learning organic crop production practices. This year’s focus is on organic fruit production and will include workshops on strawberry, grape and cane berry production, as well as brown marmorated stink bug management, cover crops, and more. We have a great line-up of speakers and host farms all across the state. This is a series not to be missed! Workshops are scheduled for one Monday afternoon a month and the 3-hour session consists of farm tours, presentations by growers and extension specialists accompanied by discussions and hands-on activities. ALL workshops will take place at active working farms this year, and, therefore, will not be broadcast via ITV to remote locations. We are attempting, however, to film all workshops so that they can be later posted for viewing on the website by those who cannot make it in person. If you missed the February workshop on pruning, you can watch it here: http://organics.tennessee.edu/workshops/workshops_treepruning_videos.html. All workshops will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, regardless of timezone (ie., a workshop in Nashville will take place at 1:00 PM CST, while a workshop located in Knoxville will take place at 1:00 PM EST). For more information on the March workshop and the other workshops planned for this year, please visit: http://organics.tennessee.edu/workshops.htm. Please contact Heather Toler ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) to register for the workshop(s) to ensure that we have enough materials to distribute to participants.
